ΠΕΡΙΛΗΨΗ
Ancient Davlia or Davlis belonged to Phocis and was one of the most important cities of the Koinon of Phocis. The acropolis of the ancient city, close to the today’s town, is a unique sample of a settlement with continued use from the Prehistoric era to Modern times. Since the Byzantine period the city was connected to Boeotia and it is invoked as a bishopric. During the Ottoman era the Jerusalem Monastery, which was near Davlia, was very important. Modern Davlia took part in the 1821 Greek Revolution and became the scenery of important events of the Modern History. |
