SUMMARY
Simone Atumano, also known as "calogerus Grecus" (Greek monk), was born in the early 14th century in Constantinople and died between the years 1383 and 1387. He was archbishop of the Latin Church of Thebes from 1366 until his death. He was also an important scholar of his era, translating works of ancient classical authors. From his position as Latin archbishop he supported the Greeks against the Catalan authorities.
