SUMMARY
Haliartus is a country town in Boeotia. It is located in the centre of the district, 20 km. west of Thebes and 103 km. north of Athens; its approximate population is 4,200. Due to its proximity to Lake Copais, the city of Haliartus played a vital part in the history of Boeotia, in Antiquity and in recent history.
