SUMMARY

The Church of the Transfiguration or Church of Christ is lying to the northwest of modern village Askri or Panagia, a few meters off the northeast limits of the officially declared archaeological area of the Valley of the Muses. The dating goes back to the Middle Byzantine times and belongs to the transitional cross-in-square domed church. The monument, for which no historical evidence survives, was restored under the supervision of the competent authorities of the Ministry of Culture in the years 1969-1972.
