agelodromion (Byz.)
A rural road or path used for the moving of herds.

demosia / demosiake hodos (road, Byz.)
Also referred to as "the public road of the imperial post" or simply basilike hodos, mean. the royal road, it was the main Byzantine road network, under the responsibility of the logothetes tou dromou for maintenance and the provision of road facilities.

hamaxegos (road)
A country road for the farmer's oxen carts.

logothetes tou dromou
Administrative Byzantine title. Initially official in charge of the public post. From the 7th C he acquired a new role and his responsibilities included ceremonial duties, protection of emperor, general supervision of diplomatic relations and collection of political information.

metochion
In the Byzantine period, metochion meant the estate that was conceded to a monastery for income purposes and operated as its dependency. Usually the metochia were located far from the monastery to which they belonged and included various structures, such as churches, hospices etc.

plakotos (road)
A paved road for the use of carts and vehicles.

xylophorikon
A country road for for the transport of wood from the forests.
