Panakton was a classical and early Hellenistic garrison fort maintained by Athenians on the frontier with Boeotia. The site has levels of prehistoric occupation, and undisturbed remains of a Late Byzantine village below the tower on the summit. Attractive for its defensible, mountaintop location, Panakton was the most substantial settlement in the area of the Skourta plain (Dervenochoria) in the periods of its occupation.

Housing architecture in late Medieval and Ottoman Boeotia

Late Ottoman houses share similar characteristics to housing types that remained more or less unchanged from the Late Medieval period,...

Medieval fortifications in Boeotia (29/9/2010 v.1) Μεσαιωνική οχυρωματική αρχιτεκτονική στη Βοιωτία (29/9/2010 v.1)

Defensive architecture in Boeotia involves fortified towns (whose fortifications often use ancient or early Byzantine works), castles built mostly during the Frankish and Catalan occupation, a large number of towers and fortified monasteries.
